In recent days, a discussion has arisen in Bielefeld regarding the planned demolition of the old New Apostolic Church Bielefeld-Mitte (also known as the cafeteria). Local historian Dr. Wilhelm Haubrock called for protection of the rare church windows from the workshop of Gustav Fricke. The building was recently sold to a real estate development company.
In his statement, the board of the Apostolic History Network emphasizes the historical significance of the building, which was used by the New Apostolic Church between 1920 and 2024, for the church history of the New Apostolic Church and the communities that emerged from it. It suggests that the building complex be placed under a preservation order, or that at least the historic stained glass windows be protected. The letter is addressed to the real estate company, the commissioned architect, and the building and preservation authorities of the city of Bielefeld.
The statement of the network’s board can be read and downloaded here:
Further pictures and excerpts from the chronicles can be viewed at the Central Archives of the NAC West. On the website of the church district nak-owl.de, there is a series of articles on the history of the building by our networker Ulrich Geier.
